DAY 1 – SAT 05-05

  • Welcome to South Africa!
  • A friendly Embrace SA Tours staff member will meet you at Cape Town International Airport. We also do pick ups at designated places in Cape Town, if you are already in Cape Town.
  • With a first view of Table Mountain comes the feeling that you are really in the “Mother City”. Arguably one of the most well-known mountains in Africa, Table Mountain provides a magnificent backdrop to cosmopolitan Cape Town and now boasts the accolade of New 7 Wonders of Nature.
  • We will drop you off at your V&A Waterfront hotel and make sure you are happy with your room.
  • Today’s lunch is for your own account
  • You have the afternoon free. Here are some suggestions:
  • explore Cape Town on your own, with the “Hop On & Hop Off buses”,
  • discover the beauty and tranquillity of Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, one of Cape Town’s Big 7
  • go for a spa treatment at your hotel or local spas at the V&A Waterfront
  • take 12-minute helicopter ride along the Twelve Apostle coastline
  • stay at your hotel and enjoy your own company
  • see what else the V&A Waterfront has to offer
  • This evening the whole group meet for the first time at a traditional African Restaurant, with music and exciting cuisine, for our welcoming dinner.

DAY 2 – SON 06-05

  • The breakfast at your hotel caters for a variety of tastes and flavours.
  • Our journey today will help you to grasp the beauty of the scenery in and around Cape Town.
  • We drive via the Twelve Apostle Mountains, Camps Bay, well-known for it’s beaches to Hout Bay and then continue on with Chapman’s Peak Drive (if the weather permits and it’s not closed) to Simon’s Town. Chapman’s Peak Drive is well known as one of the most scenic drives in the world!
  • We visit Boulders, Simon’s Town for a few hours to see the penguins, have lunch and swim in (… or experience!) the waters of the Indian Ocean.
  • The Boulders Penguin Colony forms part of the Table Mountain National Park.
  • This place is home to a unique and endangered land-based colony of African Penguins. This colony is one of only a few in the world, and the site has become famous and a popular international tourist destination
  • Lunch will be at the Seaforth Restaurant, where you will enjoy the sea, boulders, beach and often some penguins (lunch included).
  • This afternoon we visit Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Cape Point is the most south-western point of Africa and many people claims that this is the place where the two oceans meet (Atlantic and Indian).
  • The natural vegetation of the area, fynbos, comprises the smallest but richest of the world’s six floral kingdoms. The scenic beauty of Cape Point is not its sole allure; it is also an international icon of great historical interest with many a visitor drawn to the area because of its rich maritime history.
  • At the gates of Cape Point we explore the stalls of the vendors who sell African crafts and curios.
  • Tonight’s supper is for your own account. There are many exciting restaurants at the V&A Waterfront.

DAY 3 – MON 07-05

  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
  • Today’s journey takes us on roads to the places which remind everybody of the ongoing struggle for freedom of the people of South Africa. You will hear the words “Mandela”, “Robbin Island” “Apartheid” and “Freedom” several times today.
  • After a short walk to the Nelson Mandela Pier at the V&A Waterfront, we embark on the ferry to Robben Island (45 minutes at sea), where an ex-political prisoner will be our tour guide. Step into the cell of Mandela on the Island, listen to the history of white domination and the struggle of the prisoners to educate themselves.
  • On arrival back at the harbour we leave for the District 6 Museum where lunch will be served (included).
  • This afternoon Noor Ebrahim, one of the District 6 citizens, gives you a guided tour of the museum. You will hear about the pain and struggles of people who experienced forced removals. Noor’s stories are world famous and highly entertaining, although the content may be sad.
  • After the visit to the museum, we do a city tour of the former District 6 area, Bo-Kaap (Upper Cape) and Malay Quarters
  • Back at your hotel we invite you for a Traditional South African Braai (BBQ) Supper (included)
  • After supper: Meet with Mr Christo Brand the former warder of Pres Nelson Mandela on Robben Island for informal discussions.

DAY 4 – TUES 08-05

  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
  • This morning we discover the beauty and interesting history of Cape Town as we go on a city sight-seeing tour.
  • We start with a bike ride with Up Cycles or a walk on the Sea Point Promenade. We visit the City Centre, Camps Bay, and Green Market Square.
  • The high light of the morning is a visit to Table Mountain. A cable car ride up Table Mountain is always spectacular. Table Mountain
  • We enjoy lunch on top of the mountain (included)
  • Afternoon: We visit the informal settlement, Khayelitsha, to give you the opportunity to see for yourself where the different people groups of South Africa stay and work. The afternoon’s tour includes visits to Golden, the Flowerman, who makes flowers from tin cans, and several community development projects. Our guide is Monwabisi Maqogi, a long time friend of the owner of the company.
  • Supper is for your own account.

DAY 5 – WED 09-05

  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
  • Today we leave Cape Town for Wilderness, our hub in the Garden Route
  • Morning, first stop. Did you ever walk with a cheetah? We visit the Cheetah Outreach Project, in Strand, promoting the survival of the free ranging, Southern African cheetah through environmental education and delivering conservation initiatives (individual cheetah activities for your own account).
  • After the Cheetah experience, we explore the area in and around Stellenbosch, which is one of the well known SA Winelands towns.
  • Wine tasting (included) and lunch at a winery in the Jonkershoek Valley (lunch for your own account)
  • After lunch we drive past several town on Route 62 on our way to the Garden Route town of Wilderness.

DAY 7 – FRI 11-05

  • Breakfast at your hotel
  • Guide Forest Walk in the Knysna Forest with Meagan Vermaas on the footsteps of the well-known SA writer, Dalena Matthee’s characters
  • Explore the Rheenendal Ramble and learn more about the history of the woodcutters in the Knysna Forest
  • Lunch at Totties Farm Kitchen (included)
  • Afternoon: Sightseeing in and around Wilderness – we drive the seven passes road
  • Supper (included)
  • Accommodation: Hotel Wilderness


DAY 8 –  SAT 12-05

  • Breakfast at your hotel
  • Depart for George and Mossel Bay.
  • Explore Mossel Bay and the Point area
  • Lunch (included) at Mossel Bay’s Point.
  • Stop at Victoria Bay close to George.
  • Drive to Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve
  • Supper (own account)
  • Accommodation: Tsitsikamma Village


DAY 9 –  SON 13-05

  • Today we explore the beauty and serenity of the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve.
  • Morning hike on one of the several hiking trails or explore the area on your own
  • Lunch (own account)
  • Afternoon drive to the Addo Elephant Park
  • Arrive at Kuzoko Lodge
  • Supper (included)
  • Accommodation: Kuzoko Lodge


 DAY 10 –  MON 14-05


DAY 11 – TUES 15-05

  • Today we spent the whole day on safari in Addo Elephant Park, with Crisscross Adventures. The safari includes the whole Addo Elephant park, especially the newly added territory around the Sunday River’s Mouth called Colcester Section.
  • Pick up at Kuzuko Lodge
  • Lunch in the Park (included)
  • Supper at Kuzoko Lodge (included)

DAY 12 – WED 16-05

  • Breakfast at your lodge
  • This morning we drive back to Port Elizabeth. Before we drop you of at your hotel or the airport we do a sight-seeing tour of Port Elizabeth (Nelson Mandela Bay), the capital of the Eastern Cape.
  • Lunch at the Boardwalk : (own account)
  • Drop off at your hotel or airport for your flight back home
