Itinerary

Day 1 – MONDAY

We welcome you with open arms and friendly smiles at Cape Town International airport. Welcome to South Africa! We will transport you to your hotel where you have the rest of the day free to explore the surrounding areas by foot or by taxi. Take time to rest and prepare for the next few days full of new activities.

Day 2 - TUESDAY

Breakfast at your hotel. We leave the city and drive to Hout Bay and then on to Simon’s Town via Chapman’s Peak Drive, where you will have time to visit the African Jackass Penguins. (Penguin Colony – the Boulders Simon’s Town). You may be interested to take a swim in the Ocean!

Lunch   After lunch we visit the Cape Point Nature Reserve, which includes beautiful sites such as the Cape Point Light House and the Cape of Good Hope.

Supper: Evening free. Go out on your own for supper at the V&A Waterfront.

Day 5 – FRIDAY

Service day 3

This day will be allocated for the local high school students (grades 10 – 12) in Mbekweni at the Mbekweni Youth Centre. The visiting group will offer morning (3 hours) and afternoon (3 hours) workshops for the local high school students. Visiting students must be prepared to lead a workshop on at least FOUR of the following topics – you make your choice 😉

  • Essential and basic computer knowledge skills
  • Create your own website (on a simple platform) or a Facebook page that works for you
  • Basic life-style guidelines that successful people follow every day to achieve their best
  • Where to find WHAT on the internet? – useful internet websites
  • How to use Facebook and Instagram as a responsible citizen
  • Exercises that you can do at home to lose weight and strengthen your body
  • How to evaluate a movie/TV show for your own well-being
  • Easy baking tips that work with cakes/cookies all the time!

Day 6 – SATURDAY

Visit Aquila Game Reserve for a half day safari. Here you will have the opportunity to see some real African animals in the wild. The chances are good that you may see a few of the Big 5!

Day 7 – SUNDAY

Today we take the boat to Robben Island. It will be an emotional day since you will “experience” the atrocities of the previous Apartheid system of the Nationalist Government and the role that leaders like Nelson Mandela played to fight for the freedom of the South African people. We explore the island and join an ex-political prisoner that will show the group the former maximum-security prison and the tiny cell where Nelson Mandela spent his years of incarceration.

Lunch will be with Odwa Futshane (tour guide) at  Lelapa, a traditional restaurant in Langa. After lunch our guide will take us on a very insightful walking tour of the Langa township. You will get the opportunity to meet the people who live there and have a cappuccino in the first coffee shop in a black township.

Supper: Pan-African cultural experience at GOLD Restaurant and an opportunity to learn to play the African drum. GOLD Restaurant

We have to say our final goodbyes and wish you all a very safe journey with high hopes that you will return soon. We drop you off at Cape Town International at 14:00.
